The Stockman Project is located on the site of the historical Wilga mine that operated from 1992 to 1996. The new project involves the development of two underground mines, supporting infrastructure, processing plant and an accommodation village.<\/p>\n
Mining operations will utilise conventional long hole stoping and backfill methods, with ore trucked to surface. Ore will undergo crushing and grinding before being treated using sequential flotation in a 1.0Mtpa processing plant to produce copper and zinc concentrates containing silver and gold by-products. The concentrates will be loaded into containers for transport via road to port for shipping to smelters.<\/p>\n

Over the years the Project has supported an array of events and services that play an important role in the life of our community.<\/p>\n
The Stockman Project is located on Jaitmatang country and while there are no formal Registered Aboriginal Parties or Traditional Owners recognised in the area, the Project has an approved Cultural Heritage Management Plan in effect and a Consent Agreement has been established. The operation of a Trust, established under the Agreement, is assisted by an Advisory Committee made up of representatives from the four Aboriginal groups known to have a connection to the land in the wider region.<\/p>\n
